Our story
Everything started with chefs Assaf Granit and Uri Navon, and their dream of opening a chef restaurant in Jerusalem with an open kitchen, happy food, and a dynamic menu that changes on a daily basis. In 2009, the dream became reality when Machneyuda opened on the fringes of Jerusalem’s famous Mahaneh Yehuda market. The combination between soulful cooking inspired by grandma's kitchen, the precision of European cuisine, and exotic ingredients redefined Israeli-Jerusalemite cuisine with dishes such as Octopus in French Sauce Served on Yemenite Bread and Shrimp in Yogurt on Israeli “ptitim.””
Over the years, the stars of Machneyuda became partners, and were joined by Itsik Ruham, Asaf Seri, and Eliezer Mizrachi, to make up the Machneyuda Group as we know it today. This cohesive group is constantly on the look out for their next original project in or outside Israel.
The Machneyuda Group has restaurants in Israel, London, Berlin, the Caribbean Islands and Paris, including Shabour, which is decorated with a Michelin star. The Group also manages several in-house concept restaurants in leading hi-tech companies in Israel, including Wix, Rapyd, and Lightricks,. Machneyuda consistently represents creativity, initiative, mindfulness, and social awareness, and continues to challenge the boundaries of the world of dining. Our goal is to maintain our leadership in the culinary and cultural fields in Israel and worldwide.
